Who is the real rider?

947

Once, when Ibn Ibrahim Edhem (kuddisa sirruhu) went on foot to the Hajj, on the way he met a horseman riding on a camel. The rider asked Ibn Ibrahim Edhem (kuddisa sirruhu):

- Oh man! Where are you going?

- I go to the Kaaba.

- You do not have mount. How will you get to the Kaaba?

- I have a lot of vechicles.

- What is it?

When trouble happens to me, I sit down on the patience. When good coming down to me, I sit on gratitude. When anything happens to me, I sit on contentment. When my nafs is calling me to something, I recall that my remaining life is shorter lived, and acting on basis of this".

- That you are a real rider, and I'm a pedestrian. Let your journey be blessed.

(Ruhul-Bayan 2/158)

EDIFICATION:

As we use the vehicle to move from one place to another, and also to achieve the pleasure of Allah there are spiritual vehicle.

When a person takes any misfortune, he should sit down to patience, that is patience. As it said in the Quran: "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient". "Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account".

When a person receives something good, he should sit on gratitude, that is to thank for that. Since along with the fact that gratitude is a means preventing loss of benefits obtained, it is also a means of multiplying it. Allah Almighty says in the Quran:

وإذ تأذن ربكم لئن شكرتم لأزيدنكم

"Here is your Lord announced: "If you are grateful, I will reward you".

When something happens to a person, you must remember that happens by the will of Allah, and be satisfied with the decree of Allah.
