Euthanasia: is it allowed?

568

Euthanasia is the practice of terminating the life of a person suffering from an incurable disease, experiencing great suffering. But whether a person has the right to deprive himself of his "own" life? If you could say that man created himself, the answer would be obvious: yes, you can! But none of us did anything for the sake of his birth. Man comes in this world and leaves it not by his own will. This is an axiom!

However, world history is full of examples, when calling themselves civilized countries endorse such a wild manner of death - suicide, which was invented more aesthetic name - euthanasia.

The Belgian Senate approved a bill on euthanasia for severely ill children. If the lower house of Parliament supports it, Belgium is the first country, which will be euthanasia minors. Religious leaders, who named this step of the authorities destruction of the foundations of society, opposed the adoption of the law.

For obtaining the right to euthanasia child suffering from an incurable disease must confirm in writing his intention to withdraw from life. If he can not write, it must do his trustee.

Adult euthanasia in Belgium permitted since 2002. Every month is considered to four dozen petitions for euthanasia.

Holland was the first country that allowed euthanasia. In California, after years of discussions in referendums in 1977 adopted a law "On the Human Right to Death", in which terminally ill people can form a document expressing of desire to turn off the resuscitation equipment. In 1997, Oregon also allowed euthanasia, then joined by Washington and Montana.

According to the laws of these states, a terminally ill patient must confirm acceptance of the resignation of life three times, including in writing. In addition, it is required confirmation of two doctors that the person who chooses to resort to euthanasia, left to live less than six months, as well as ensuring that the patient is sane.

Islam-today correspondent found out from an expert on religious matters Sheikh Shahabuddin, what is the attitude of Islam to euthanasia?

"Islam forbids euthanasia, and that doctor who will conduct it, will have committed a great sin, namely murder, no matter whether the patient agrees to the procedure or not.

Indeed, Holy Qur'an says: "But whoever kills a believer intentionally - his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment". (The Quran, 4:93)

In another verse it is said: "And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right..." (The Quran, 17:33)

On this issue, there are sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "The greatest sins are committing shirk, killing a man, not obedience to parents, perjury".

Narrated by Dzhundab ibn Abdullah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Among those who came before you, there was a man who had a wound, and he could not endure any more, he took a knife and cut his hand, he could not stop the bleeding and died. Allah Ta'ala said: "My servant was ahead of me, I made Paradise forbidden to him".

Narrated by Thabit ibn Al-Dahhak, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever kills himself with something in this world will be punished the same in the Day of Judgment".

Allah Ta'ala gave life to man, and no one has the right to take the life, the Holy Quran says: "...and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]". (The Quran, 2:195). "Do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful". (The Quran, 4:29)

As for the patient who agrees to this procedure, he or she becomes those who agreed to commit suicide. In Islam it is called "Intihar" (suicide).

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not perform namaz - janaza on suicide in order to keep others from sin, but he allowed the Sahaba (companions) to make them janaza.

Therefore, it is sunnah for scientists and noble people not to commit - janaza prayers for suicide with a view to emulate the Prophet (peace be upon him) and warnings other people from it.

Suicide is a major sin, and there is a danger of bad end - leave this world without Iman. The man who killed himself, thus solving escape from disaster, poverty, jealousy, illness, anger, he exposes himself to punishment.

Therefore, no matter what the pain is not felt a man, he must endure. After all, according to the will of Allah.
